Problem opening IMAP folders with Javamail

At the moment I've got a service running that connects to an IMAP server, opens a designated folder and reads the mail, processes unread mail and marks them as read.
The problem I'm having is that this works fine when opening the INBOX, however, when I try to open a different IMAP folder on the server, I can only open it in read-only mode so I can't mark messages as read or delete them.
Does anyone know how I should handle this?
Obviously it's possible since when I'm using outlook express to have a look at the mailaccount and open the folder I can mark/unmark messages, delete them, create them etc.

Have you read the pdf docs that come with javamail? I remember reading a few things about this sort of thing.. #1, that IMAP wasn't altogether done (the whole javamail thing smells of a work in progress), and I remember something about not being able to access folders other than the Inbox. The PDF docs would probably be pretty helpful though. Liam Morley

Thanks, but the problem wasn't with the java.
Our "friendly" system administrators had forgotten to
give me write access to those folders I wanted to access.
(Which just shows how big a hole there is in our mail
server/outlook)
