hello list!

i would like to ask some help/idea towards my problem on my co's switch.

the prime problem is about its power handling, the device is plugged into a UPS for backup power. but during power interruption/switching, the switch's port LEDs reinitialize/resets therefore cutting the link on the network. the power led indicator doesn't turn off during this interruption, only the ports. i have tried to use another UPS and test again but the same problem occur.

i had asked my supplier about this but told me there was no problem with it. yes indeed no problem in data transfer or any other network activity, but what bothers us is during power interruption. the ports should not reset/reinitialize if switching its power source into the UPS. or it is just this device is like this before? any ideas please?

thank you.

Any well designed power supply should last long enough on the internal capacitors to survive a ups switch from line to battery or viceversa.

If you really like to mess with your switch (and possible damage it for good), you can try to locate filtering capacitors on the dc output of the power supply and try to supliment them.

Or try an online ups (those who are all the time on inverter so that the output is not affected by the input)
