Problem: On a Norstar 0x32 : When DID 616-7131 is dialed from the outside world to the station, if the station is idle, it rings 4 times (the prescribed amount in the forward no answer/forward delay = 4 rings section of the stations programming) then is answered by an Octel AA. If the main number of 616-7100 is dialed and then the ext. of 7131 is dialed, whether the station is idle or busy the caller reaches the stations personal mailbox. Same true if the station’s 4-digit extension is dialed from another station. Could the stations target line of 171 have told to ring the AA of Octel? No one had the Octel passwords last nite, so we couldn’t get in to check. Any thoughts?

I would make sure that line 171 isn't assigned to the Octel Vmail 7139. That would explain why the AA is picking up instead of the personal mailbox. Check regular line assignment on 7139 first. Then when you get the Octel Passwords you can check it's programming.

It sounds like you are on the right track. MRoberts

thanks! I'll post after I can get to Octel VM

Nobody knows how to get into Octel.....so the Norsxxx technical support (quick) solution was to assign DID 616-7131 a new target line of 199...the idea being, get a target line number way far out there. Well, it works. The Norsxxx tech said that somewhere in the system the original target line of 171 IS assigned to a station. When I originally checked, I checked only for the physcial sets I could see (12 of them). When I went back to do a cursory check of sets programmed, they were number into 7180!! Somebody went nuts with COPY. Anyway...hope this helps someone.

If that is the case then you should be able to make the target line Private to: the extension you want. That will automatically take any other assignment of the line off.

This does not take the line out of any Octel programming that may or may not be in existance.

You may just have to use 199 and make a note not to use target line 171 until you can get into the Octel. MRoberts

This does not sound like an Octel issue... it sounds to me like the station with DID 616-7131 has a 'forward on busy' to the Octel.

just a thought.

Thanks for your input erikweste. I agree with you, its probably not an Octel issue...but can't get in. Its not that DID 616-7131 has "forward on busy" to Octel. Its fixed for now (see earlier post).
