Problem of login shell???

Hi all,

When i telnet to my solaris box from my linux box. After entering login name the password, I got an error message:

login:
passwd:
Last login: Mon Apr 9 18:49:22 from pinball.devo
/usr/local/bin/bash: Syntax error at line 1: '(' unexpected
Connection closed by foreign host.


Here is the contain of my /etc/shells file in Linux box.
/usr/local/bin/bash
/bin/bash
/bin/sh
/bin/ash
/bin/bsh
/bin/bash2
/bin/tcsh
/bin/csh
/bin/ksh


Please help. Thanks.

Make sure bash is installed in solaris box. I have a brand new unix machine. One of users account uses bash shell, and he could never login. Finally I found out that there is no bash was installed. After I installed it , everything comes fine. I hope you have the some problem.
 
Sounds like a syntax error in that users .profile (or whatever file it is that bash reads when you login) Mike
