Hi all,
I installed Arcserve 11 on W2K yesterday. During the installation a user name was created caroot. But from the console when I try to connect to the servers to configure I have a problem of authentication even I give the right username and the right password.
Any idea
Thanks

Is your BrightStor ARCserve Domain Servere Service running ??

also you can use the ca_auth or authsetup command line utilities to change / reset the caroot password.

regards

After one day working on that, the problem is still here. But first we install Arcserve on a machine W2k (Let say ArcserveBackup server1)but the console we install it on another machine(let say console server1).

I checked the faq475-5262, so on ArcserveBackup server1 I can get in Server Admin without any problem, the tree services are running, when I run ca-auth -user getall I have the user caroot. My problem is when I go the machine console server1 and I want to connect to ArcserveBackup server1 , more specifically to the Manager and I choose Arcserve backup server1 I got this famous message: server failed to connect to authenticate the user carrot(EC=-1). I thought perhaps It is a communication problem between theses two machines, but If I go to Server Admin, backup wizard, Restore wizard on Console machine1 I can connect to ArcserveBackup server1 with the account caroot. It is The manager application which makes problem!!!

Any idea how could I investigate this
Note: The manager on console server1 was upgraded from version 9 to 11 yesterday

Thanks
