TN
I have installed the HP Network Node Manager in A Win NT Advanced Server 2000 SP2.
I have configure other PC to enable SNMP.
these PC are connected in a group.
The problem in the auto discovery I don't see any PC
(I ping correctltly) to thes PCs).
Second
Have I to install some Thing in the Pcs that will be managed
other then the SNMP Option
Thank for the Help

One of the Menu options in NNM, can't remember exactly off the top of my head, you can test network connectivity. What it will do is test for TCP, ICMP, and SNMP. I would try that to see if NNM is able perform SNMP.

Hi zaianeimed, are the pc's in different segments?
Have you tried to poll through snmp your default gateway?

And for you 2nd question, if you start snmp on the managed nodes or pc's, and make sure at least the RO community matches the one in your management server, you should be able to manage those pc's, then you may go for Openview Agents, in order to manage applications, logfiles, etc...
You may try an 'snmpwalk -c matching-community <node_name_or_ip_address>' and see if you get any response.

Or you could configure your snmp agent to take care of some applications too.
Hope this helps,

You could try a loadhost to load one of the PCs into NNM then do a demand poll to it to see the results.
"loadhosts -m <subnetmask> <ip address> <host name>"

Checking the readonly community string is first step (as mentioned above). Also, is autodiscover turned on, if not turn it on or use loadhosts. Is DNS or a host file setup to correctly translate host names to IPs for NNM?
