When I go into Exchange 2003 OWA ( I am prompted for a username/password but from there the exchange page isn't opening properly. The page I get has a list of the folders to the left, but the links don't work and all the graphics are being displayed as red X marks (like an invalid image). I am guessing there is some sort of permission issue happening but I'm not sure where or why.

Any ideas?

Thanks...

It could be mangled permissions. If so, a reinstall of exchange will bring you back to a base and you can go through the steps to set permissions again. It could also be issues with the IISLockdown tool if you used it. Again, a reinstall can get you back to base. One other thing I have seen, which you may want to try first...

On occasion, there are network connectivity issues between the client and server that cause the client to receive a partial page. Oft times with IE 6.X, that partial page is cached, and no matter how many times you try afterwards you get the broken page. Try clearing the internet explorer cache on the client and hit the OWA page again. It only takes a minute or two, and potentially could resolve your problem. If this turns out to be the case, check the NIC drivers on the OWA server and make sure they are up to date.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

I fixed the problem and thought I'd tell you how...

In the Under IIS, the ExchWeb only was granting access to users local server and to no other servers. By changing it to accept connections from all computers (IP addresses) the connection went through without a problem.

Thanks again,

And here's another thing to try.... Go to IIS Manager, right click default WEB site > properties and in the Home directory Tab make sure that Exchange ApplicationPool is selected as Application Pool. Restart IIs service.

Hey guys. I actually think I am experiencing the same issue but your resolution you guys posted didn't seem to help me. Any other ideas??

Thanks!!!

I'm pretty new to this stuff, so my advice may not actually be valid, but your problem does seem to be because of a permissions problem in IIS. In IIS, under the Default Web Page, I'd go to the properties for ExchWeb. Once there, verify that read access is checked under Virtual Directory. Next, go to the Directory Security tab and hit the Edit button for IP address and domain name restrictions and verify that the option for computers will by default be "Granted Access" is selected.

It may or may not work for you, but it's worth a try, eh? I hope it helps. I know firsthand how frustrating these problems are.

By the way - if that isn't the solution you're looking for, I'd keep looking around in IIS since that is probably where you will find your solution. It is somehow a question of permissions...
