Hi All,

When installing NT server on a server it is giving me an error message after hardware detection. It finds the SCSI controller but then does not find any hard drives installed on the machine. It is a Dell poweredge with scsi raid controller.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ted

During the installation, when you see the "Setup is inspecting your Hardware..." screen, press the F6 key. It will then ask you which drivers you want to install. Insert your scsi driver disk and away you go.

If you are using a Raid controller generally NT doesn't recognise this. The Scsi controller it's detecting is probably an embedded one not the same chain as your drives are connected to. To work around this you need to do the following. First get hold of a copy of the RAID controller drivers from the Dell website. Create a diskette with these drivers. Next begin the installation as you would do normally, but, when you see the prompt "setup is inspecting your system" (Don't quote me on that it may be slightly different) press F6 when the blue screen comes up you will have the option to specify additional drivers. Now insert the driver diskette you made earlier and point to the a: drive as a source. Setup will load the drivers and will then be able to see any logical drives you've defined on the controller.

Thanks guys, got the right raid controller driver and it finally installed.
