Problem installing BE10 remote server agent

I have BE10 installed on a Server2k3 box and trying to install the remote server agent on another 2k3 server.

I have tried doing the push via the admin console - it reports success and reboots the client server. The files (not sure all the needed files) are on the client server, but the agent never runs.

I have tried to manually install the agent on the client server by running \rant32\setupaa.exe, rebooting, and the client still does not run.

Am I missing something? Or is there anything else I can try?

Have you look at the C:\windows\bkupinst.log to see why the agent is not installing? Do you have outlook installed or mapu client or port 10000 in use?

OK - I looked a little deeper.

checked services =
Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Servers is started.

But when I go to my admin console to add the machine to a Selection List I get the error, "Selection of this item disabled" and states to check the Remote Agent on the target machine.

Do you have a remote agent license isntalled on the Media Server?

The license I have installed on the media server is "Backup Exec for Windows Servers".

Ok, then you dont have the proper licensing. You need to purchase a remote agent server license. Once this is installed on the Backup Exec server it will allow you to backup the remote server. Workstations are included free - anytime you touch a server you need a license.
