Note that I have put this on the VB6 thread also.
I use the Visual Basic 6 Print statement to create an rtf type file with only text in it. When MS Word 2002 tries to open it, I get a File Conversion screen asking me to select the encoding the makes the document readable. I did not I have this problem at all with MS Word 97 with any rtf type file I created.
I have been testing to try and figure out the problem. The test file contains only simple text lines containing 10 characters of "12 1" in each line. If I create this file with 40 lines, MS Word 2002 displays it immediately and correctly. If I create the file with 41 lines all the same, the File Conversion screen is displayed.
I have varied the characters in the lines and the number of lines but there is some threshold at which the File Conversion screen is displayed.
