Hi, i've got MS Proxy 2 on my PDC (i know this is not good - i inherited it) and from this server i have no problem getting onto the internet - however - when i try and get onto internet from any workstation (even BDC) i get challenged - but no account (not even admin) allows me to get access. Having said that 1 or 2 machines can get internet access. Everyone at the mo has full access permission!

I have tried unchecking Enable Access Control - but this doesn't change anything. Also made sure the external ip wasn't in the LAT.

If you have ANY suggestions - please let me know, thanks!

There are basically 3 ways to get to the internet

1) Direct Connection (wether it's dial-up or broadband, it doesn't matter)

2) Through a Router

3) Through a Proxy

It sounds like your server uses setup #1, that's why it connect without any problem.

If you used setup #2, each workstations that you want to connect to the internet would need to have the following IP Address, Gateway address, and DNS settings entered.

In the last method, #3 (which is how it appears your network is setup), the workstations need to have an IP address, and then your internet browser needs to be setup to use the proxy.

Each method is farely easy to setup, but each veries depending on how your network and connection to the internet is setup.

Hope this helps...good luck!
