Howdy!

At one seat in a 10 person LAN I am getting an error from Exchange when sending email with an attachment to non-local addresses. The error is:

There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. <SERVER #5.5.0 smtp;503 This server requires authentication when attempting to send to a non-local email address. Please check your mail clent settings or contact your administrator to verify that the domain or address is defined for this server.>

All other seats are able to send attachments, and he can email attachments locally, not to the internet.

The email client is Outlook 2003 (all others in the LAN are Outlook 2000).

TIA!

Steve

There is a new SPF record that some ISP's are requiring to prevent SPAM. See if whoever hosts your MX record has a SPF record also.

What happens when that user sends an email from an Outlook2000 box and what happens when another user sends from 2003?
