I have a NT4 network and have installed sms 2.0 sp3 (small network same subnet 70 machines). After following the install instructions and set up login discovery, network discovery (with correct subnets), user/groups discovery etc. I have found that all the users/groups have been discovered but none of the workstations/servers. I have checked the component status messages for network discovery and discovery data manager and there are no errors, in fact there are no errors for anything and the network discovery seems to be going through the discovery motions correctly. I am at a loss to figure out why no clients are being discovered. The SQL server seems to be running fine (is resident on sms server. Could anyone please shed some light on this for me?

P.S I have just noticed that the sql server sa account is not in user manager for domains and when I try to run a report on devices discovered it fails stating cannot access sql server. Could this be a user account issue? Anyone know how I may resolve this?

It sounds like a rights issue with the service account. Here are some things to look for:

Is service account part of the Local Admins group? Also, SMS tries to identify resources via ARP table from router. Are routers allowing access to data? When I initially set up our server, I also could not find any resources and later found out that I was not using the correct SNMP name. Once I got the correct name from corporate, All resources started appearing. Hope this helps...
