We just installed a new (referb) Option 11 switch at one of our locations across the state on Friday. For some reason I can't connect to it via modem. I can connect to my other two Option 11 switches but when I try to connect to this one all I get is garbage on the screen. The vendor was connecting to it just fine on Friday so I don't think there's a problem with the modem. I'm using Procomm with an internal modem on my laptop. Any help would be appreciated!!

Talk with your vendor and ask what parameters they are using to connect, make sure you are set up the same way. Dont assume they are automatically set the same way. Also, I have noticed that sometimes I cannot connect to specific opt 11's with SEB's using Hyperterminal, only with Procomm even when all settings are the same. Hope this helps.

99.9 percent of vendors use procomm... iv'e worked for the top 10.. trvlr may have nailed it

If you can get someone to check the dip switch speed setting on the SSC card

Cheers!!

Checked all that stuff out. The vendor is no help...

You need to make them understand that they are working for you and if they will not give you the settings you need to escallate to their management. Otherwise you are stuck trying one setting after another until you find the right one. One thing to check is the on site terminal if you have one and see how that is set up. It is a good possibility that the modem is the same.

I agree with trvlr1. Your vendor is no help. Get a new one! Is there a SEB on this port, instead of a modem? Have your vendor call you from the site and work with them to get you connected. Ask specific questions.
