Hi :
When I save a file *.xls from PowerPlay 7.4.768.0, and I try to open it with excel, in the excel indicates that it's trying to open a delimited file. Is there something wrong with this version ?
Thanks in advance

gruposenda,
Do you mean delimited as a tab-delimted file (akin to csv) or that the output is limited to 65,536 rows?
Since Powerplay client relies on Excel when exporting, what is the version of Excel that is installed?

As a tab-delimited file and I have excel 2000 installed. This file is small, it has a few lines.
Thanks.

Hmmm, I think 7.4 'expects' to have Excel 2002 and above.
If you go into Cognos' configuration manager and open the current config., does the 'Export to' setting for Cognos PowerPlay read 'Excel 2002 and Higher'? If so, change it to 'Excel 2000' and apply the change.

Glad to assist - I think that the difference is to do with the change in file formatting that occured when Microsoft went from Excel 2000 > 2002, although the extension remains as ".xls". At least Cognos gives the option to deal with the switch.
If you have multiple machines to amend, a quicker change can be done by amending the "ExcelUseOldExport" setting in the "cer5.ini" file; 1 = 2000, 0 = 2002 & above.
