I have an ASUS CUSI-FX mobo, currently with BIOS revision 1007. Whenever I try to boot into any OS (using a bootable CD), the system starts to show some signs of booting (i.e. some normal, non-error text messages appear as the installation process begins), but quickly reboots itself. This happens with windows, linux, bsd, solaris, etc...

When I try to enter to BIOS, the system reboots itself. I managed to be able to use a boot disk created by win2k3 and that manages to boot, and got a DOS prompt. I then ran ASUS's flash util, but half-way through the flash, it reboots itself and says that the BIOS revision is unchanged.

The BIOS is soldered directly to the board, so I can't order a new one, and clearing the CMOS does not help anything.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Can u run a memory test?
Thei is most likely, CPU, RAM or a harddrive fault.

It can also be caused by something not seated properly on the MB, a faulty MB, bad or overtaxed power supply, bad video card, overheating, IRQ conflict with a network card, virus, or spyware.

Thanks for the tips, but after many many more hours last night, I finally found out that my specific board revision (1.05) has a hardware bug that causes non-coppermine cores to constantly reboot the system. The original board they release (1.03) did not have this problem. Although I've only found one page on the net (with the help of google) that points this out.

I confirmed that the board is still good because I can boot up with a P3-650. Now I gotta try to get ASUS to send me the older revision board...
