I am using Backup Exec 10.0 and trying to backup some Exchange mailboxes. When I try to select the mailboxes, I get an error message saying "Logon account domain\username failed to access servername\microsoft exchange mailboxes. Access Denied."

The account I am trying to use has full admin rights on the Exchange box and is part of the local admin group and the remote agent is installed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

The account your using the mailbox must be visible in the Global address list

Thank you steveot. That did the job and a star for you!

Hi,
user account and mailbox is created with full rights everywhere, name appears on global address book. but when I choose mailbox nothing happens, it looks like it is going into an infinite loop. Someone informed me we need outlook installed to set the MAPI.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

No outlook is not required. Are you getting prompted for credentials when selecting the mailbox?

yes, The message I am getting is logon account failed to access the microsoft exchange mailbox. Access is denied.

You have to check how the backup exec services are starting or the logon account for the service.

IN backup exec under network logon accounts it must be the same account and this shold be the account in exchange

Changed all the logon account in backup exec service, still does not work. Still getting the same error message. I am currently running veritas 10
Thanks

Added the logon accounts to the backup services, still getting the same error message. I am currently running Veritas 10d

It works now, I need to go to browse to choose the user from the active directory list. When I added the user by typing in domain\username, it does not work.
