A user came to me today indicating his phone (2616) was acting strange. I checked the settings on our 11c running 25.40b and every key on his TN was set to MCN 26 0. Rather bizarre. I went to out the TN before doing a CPY to restore it. As soon as I did it the switch rebooted. After it came back his TN had the proper settings. A little later another users Key 0 was not functioning despite the fact that it looked like it was defined appropriately. He could dial from it and his DN showed up on the display of the person he called, but they could not call him-just silence. I went to change his DN and again the switch rebooted. So obviously something is corrupt. Would someone let me know what is the best strategy for resolving this this because I have no doubt it will happen again soon?

something wich is very important on the latest software releases is to have the proper servicepacks activated.

Another thing wich is very irritating is also that if you have a 2616 set programmed and puts in a M390x set, the switch may act very strange and reboot from time to time.

So it is necessary to keep an eye on what kind of sets is plugged in to the different ports.

do a backup and reload your switch, check you patches, ld 22 issp. you may be looking at a bad ssc card, more then likely you software is corrupt. a power cycle may correct it, and a power cycle may also erase all your user data. your problem is very bad, it will get worse, don't put this one off.. if you've got a modem on your switch, CHANGE the password. i've seen this type of problem caused by a hacker.

Thanks. I obviously have to accelerate this but before I do I am hoping to get some clarification as I don't want to overwrite or lose any useful backups I may have. I have 3 devices showing: C:, Z;, and B:. I understand that B: (and A:) are the PCMCIA devices for customer data backup. I am not totally clear as to the C: and Z: and when they are utilized. Would some one explain where the switch gets its OS on a cold boot versus a warm boot. I assume that Z: is on a cold boot and the customer data comes from C somewhere. Is a directory on C used for the OS for a warm boot with again C: used for customer data. I want to be sure before I start to play. I also see from LD 43 and DAT the following:
DATABASE ISSUE DATE(d/m/y)/TIME SIZE(recs) SEQNO
Main 2540B 20/07/2004 at 00:00:06 76 92
Secondary 2540B 19/07/2004 at 00:00:02 76 91
IntBackup 2540B 20/07/2004 at 00:00:06 76 92
PCMCIA database not accessible.
Current external backup is on PCMCIA drive B

Can someone give me the device locations for Main, Secondary, and IntBackup? With this info in hand I can copy over stuff to additional PCMCIA cards to give me some flexibility.

Thanks a lot.

Well, a power cycle got everything back into shape, thank goodness. I didn't realize that a warm start really didn't initialize as much as I assumed (such as memory I guess!).

right it can't clear all ram because it "tries" to maintain the connect table so that calls stay up. but when that file gets corrupt, ini no longer does the trick
