When I try and enter data on my forms it not only does not save but on the record select bar at the bottom of the box does not give me the option to select a new record.

When I try and save what I have entered and close the window and then open it back up, I am still on the first record only it is blank again.

Any hints.

What recordset type do you have for the form? If it's snapshot, you won't be allowed to add data to the form, only browse thru it.

Having the recordset type property set to snapshot will also disable your new record button.

for some reason when I go to file_send it does not give me the typical sending options. Do you know of another way to send it?

I am back, were you able to pull up that database I sent you?

prodcontrol.[ponytails2]

I never received it ... if you're running WindowsXP, right click on the database and select Send To, then select Compressed (zipped) folder.

Then right-click on the zipped folder, highlight send to, and then select Mail Recipient from the list, and try to re-send to me.

you have no underlying recordsource for any of your forms - hence, since the database has nowhere to place any of the data that you enter, you'd won't be able to add new records.

I would suggest constructing the tables that you require based on the layout of each of your forms, set the form's recordsource to the appropriate table that you built, and then try again.

I made one table if you unhide it with all of my information in it. Now that table needs to be linked with the forms and fill in the appropriate feild on all the forms. how is that done?

first step is to open the form in design view, and bring up form properties. set the control source of the form to the table that you want.
next step is to click each control on the form, and set the control source property to the appropriate field in the table you've selected.

note that both these property settings have drop-down menus associated with them, so you don't really have to type anything in - just pick from a list. :)
