Hopefully someone can help me here. I'm trying to add my Samsung SP0208N 80 GIG HD to my new PC. It's formatted NTFS and worked perfectly on the old computer. The disk is recognized as a slave but it won't let me access the files. It says the drive is not formatted and promps me to format now. I obviously don't want to lose the files on there so formatting isn't an option.

Any help on how i can access the files without formatting??

thanks

what is your OS ?
you know win98 can't access NTFS
(except with a piece of software:
NFTS reader or something)

You can also try Partition MAgic and convert
NTFS to FAT32 if this is the problem.

Check the jumper settinhs, cable connections also.

I'm running Windows XP Home. I've tried all the possible pin positions and have it properly set up.

It reads the disc as an active disc that isn't formatted. it also shows it to be 36Gigs or so instead of 80.

Have you got the jumpers set correctly on both disks? (eg, both set to cable select, or set as master - with slave present if that option is available and slave)?

(as its new machine I'm presuming it doesn't have old bios drive limitations).
