Hi;

When I send an e-mail through the CRM tool, it generates a weird code in the subject.

For example, if I send a message with the subject "Hello", the tool wil transform the subject to "Hello CRM:00020005"!!!

Can someone help me get rid of that code?

Thanx!

Mehdi

that code allows CRM to track it back to the contact/account - leave it there and replies automatically go where they should since you (probably) have the Exchange piece & the associate Outlook rules.

this make sense?

Hi Jymm;

I'm not sure I understand your point.
Do you mean that without this code, we couldn't find the related contact/account? But what if the e-mail isn't related to any contact/account, but just a general e-mail?

Thanx for your answer.

Mehdi

Let's say that you have a contact whose email address is jymm@beer.com (mmmm beer) and you emailed that contact. Outgoing email will have CRM:00000000 in the subject line and it is logged as an activity for that contact. If Jymm@beer.com replies to the email, Exchange has a CRM piece that looks for the CRM:000000000 in the subject and that tells it which Account/Contact to log it to.

Personally I do not like this. I was hopeful that the exchange piece would look up email addys in the system and associate all email that way, but this is not the case.

We use the TRACK IN CRM button when the replies are all complete (or whenever someone on the corp end thinks it is complete). THis is both good and bad I suppose

make sense?

Hi Jymm;

Ok now I understand.
We also use the TRACK IN CRM button, once all the replies are complete, but I thought of that only as a temporary workaround... looks like I'm gonna have to use it as a definite solution for my users.

Thanx for your help!!
Very appreciated!

if you do not want the outgoing to have that go to the web version, settings -> Organizational settings -> look for a tab that is e-mail tracking. You can turn it off for incoming or outgoing and just use the 'Track in CRM' function...

howz that? (qed)

Ok that's perfect!!
Thanks a lot!!
