We have 3 exchange servers that sync public folders, two of the servers are exchange 5.5 and the public folders are 1.7 gig. On our 2000 exchange server we can start the day with a new blank store and it grows about a gig a day until it reaches the limit and shuts down.

What is causesing the 2000 priv1.edb to get so big?

Is your Exchange server open to the Internet? My first thought would be you might be the target of an external (or even internal) spammer running messages through your system.

You may want to lock down your SMTP server and allow only authenticated mail and make sure non-authenticated systems are not allowed to route therough your server.

We have relaying turned off on all of our exchange servers and they are also all inside our PIX firewalls.

Oops I made a mistake it's the PUB1.edb that grows not the priv.edb

Public folders

Is it newsgroups? What folder is showing all this content? Dan

There is nothing in newsgroups

If we run through all of the folders in the public drive and add up all of the contents of the folders it only adds up too about 1.7 gig. But is we look it's just under 10 gig as of right now.

We reinstalled sp2 and it doesn't seem to be growing anymore so we might start with a fresh database again and resync!
