Hi,

Is there anyway i can print the IP address of the client m/c that is printing on the print job as header/footer on all pages that gets printed.

I am using Windows 2000 server as printer server and logging is on, but i dont want to see the event viewer, i want to print the IP address or username in the printjob itself so that i can catch the person who prints huge document and doesnt even bother to collect it.

Please help.

Hi Yunus,

the easiest way to track the docu is to check the "Keep printed Documents" on the Print Queue Properties > Advanced Tab.

All the spooled data will be saved. You can then sort the .spl(spooled data)data by size wich you can find under C:\winnt\system32\spool\printers folder and then open it with a spl viewer. You can then see the user name,IP,and the document content.

These tools also called as EMF viewer. If your customers prints to a HP Printer you should use a PCL Viewer.

Kind regards,

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, but event viewer already tells me who printed and what document they printed etc.

But what I am looking is that if the source IP gets printed on the print , then it will be helpful.
