I have been tearing my hair out trying to figure out how to print my spreads in the order that the pages actually need to be together rather than having to assemble them all manually at the end. For example I have 8 pages of A4 that i want to print on 4 sheats of A3 paper. Is there a way that In-design puts the pages in the right order eg page 1 next to page 8 etc?

Is there such a setting? I would very much like to hear about it even if it is complicated. Anything but more hours of dragging and dropping.

Depending on version and how you bought ID, it will or will not have an Imposer, or it might not be installed.

If you bought ID Pagemaker edition, it came with the Pagemaker plugin pack which includes Inbooklet SE - the imposer. If you bought Creative Suite Premium, the Pagmeker plugin pack is on one of the Extras disks. That's how I got it. If you bought Creative Suite standard, don't know if that had it.

Take a look at your File menu for Inbooklet SE, just to see if maybe you do have it installed.

If you don't have it, I think Adobe has discontinued the separate sale of the Pagemaker Plugin pack. ALAP, the maker of Inbooklet SE, sells Inbooklet for ID for $99. You might go to ALAP.com and see if there's a trial download. I don't think it works yet with ID CS2 (4).

Other than using an imposer, it's a long and tedious thing to manually impose the pages.

Thanks jmgalvin. Your info was most helpful. Will check out what you suggest.

I use ID2 and not having that Build Booklet plug-in was the one feature of PM I missed most. So I went to the Adobe Exchange website and downloaded the free scripts that do impositions. I can't remember what it was called, but when I looked there about 1-2 months ago, there were only two imposition scripts available. I d/l both, but one didn't work - the other works beautifully.
