Hi,

Got a little project on that requires me to produce plastic id cards with someones picture and details on it.

The printer is obviously a specialist printer for card printing, but it just uses a normal driver and essentially if you got everything in the correct position on a page in word it could print the card from it.

The layout of the card is fixed, but they would like to be able to change the background colour of the cards depending on type.

I'm looking for some ideas on the best way to handle the printing from a VB App. I have tended to use crystal reports in the past for printing solutions, but I wondered if there was a better way.

Thanks
Marc

Colored paper? Most places will buy different color cards for different levels of employees. The reason is simply because it's cheaper to get colored cards than it is to get a color card printer or pay for all of the color ink that goes into painting the whole card.

They are plastic cards and they seem happy to waste a lot of ink. That is already in place and nothing to do with me.

That isn't really the issue.

I more after advice on the best way to print cards (with a picture and barcode on them) from VB.

Crystal is no longer in the running as we have v10 and that won't load images from paths in that version, so I need to look elsewhere.

Just found the VB PrintForm command and this does give me the flexibility to do what I want, but does mean having to release new exes every time I want to make a change. Not ideal!

Thanks
Marc
