Why some of my foxpro program can not print properly under Win NT WS 4.0.
Env.: Win NT WS 4.0 with Service Pack 4
FoxPro 2.6 for DOS
When we send a print job, the system will wait a while before start printing (slowly).
Unless we exit & close the program, then the printing would be started immediately.

Chris,

1) Is this something that has always happened with NT4 or did it start unexpectedly?

2) My first reaction is in anycase to check out MS Knowledge Base on printer port settings for printing from Dos programs under NT.

1) It has always happened with NT, since we upgraded to NT about 2 years ago, from Win 3.1.
And I've tried everything..., changing the printer properties setting on NT, including searching on MS Knowledge Base :)
We're migrating those applications to Informix DBMS anyway, but until then... seems that we'd have to live with it :(
Funny thing is, not ALL of our FoxPro applications print slowly under NT4. Some of them run quite ok, but some just refuse to do the printing properly.

Try the following at the end of your report / print job code:
SET PRINTER TO
SET PRINTER TO

Sometimes only one will work, but the second one always works and doesn't hurt if it isn't needed. This "disconnects" the printer from FP, much like the shutdown does.
