Attempting a 2 color peice. The peice has a linked bitmap image. The printer can't use this Tiff because it wont separate properly.(CMYK) when I am just using a 2 color process. How can i prepare this linked file to be placed into Illustrator and separate properly for a 2 color process job?

Try either a duotone and save as an EPS, or create a DCS file in Photoshop and specify the spot channels yourself.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Blue ark,

I ended up saving a monotone as an eps but the printer wasn't sure if that would separate properly either. So what we decided to do was just make everything black and send the file as a greyscale and also change the purple in the illustrator file to black and he figured this would separate. I am not sure if this logically made full sense to me but it must have worked because I haven't heard back and my client has recieved a blue line to sign off on. Your duotone logiic I will try next time that makes more sense to me. This tiff although a grey scale the black in the picker still appears as cmyk?? So I dont understand how that worked. Thanks for the input though I will read up on these dcs files and also channels in which I know nothing about.

Thanks--->stratajay
