Printing in office xp - no printers installed

hi, im hoping someone can help a newbie with a problem. i have windows xp running office xp, everything is running fine until i want to print from either word or powerpoint in which i get the error message"no printers installed". the printers are definitly installed, and this can be cured by using a different application and selecting a default printer. has anyone had any experience with this problem.

This is for Excel 2000, but it may work for you anyway. Have a look.
