Hello,

I'm trying to print from a HP-UX server to a serial line printer on a SCO server.

/usr/lib/lpd is running on the SCO server
I can send my print request from HP-UX and I can see files in /usr/spool/lpd/serie1 on my SCO server.
But the files stays here for ever and never gets printed.

I'm new to SCO and need help to make it work.
Thanks in advance ...

Does the SCO printer accepr remote job ?
scoadmin "Printer Manager"
select the serial line printer
Settings -> Control ...
[*] Accept New Remote Jobs

Hope This Helps, PH.

Nothing usefull :
scheduler is running
system default destination: serie1
device for serie1: /dev/ttyi01
....
serie1 accepting requests since Thu Dec 20 10:44:24 2001
....
printer serie1 is idle. enabled since Thu Dec 20 11:18:40 2001. available.
....

here is the content of /usr/spool/lpd/serie1:
# ls /usr/spool/lpd/serie1
cA2707SRV-RP74
dA2707SRV-RP74
lock

You may try to manually restart the LPD service (this is ksh syntax):
kill -15 $(ps -e | awk '$NF=="lpd"{print $1}')
rm -f /usr/spool/lpd/lock /usr/spool/lpd/*/lock
/usr/lib/lpd &

I followed your instructions but without success.
lpd is running again but I have no output on the printer and files stay in the spool directory.

If i try to print the same file locally, the printer works

Which version of OSR (uname -v) ?
Which patches applied (custom) ?

The print job manager in scoadmin does not show any jobs despite there are pending jobs in the spool directory

uname -v gives me 2.
It seems like only year 2k patches have been applied

uname -v gives me 2
Wow, and uname -X ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

here is the "custom window" content:

3Com 3C589 EtherLink III Network Driver (ver 5.0.5b) SCO OpenServer Enterprise System (ver 5.0.4p) Specialix I/O 8+ Device Driver (ver 2.00)
Supplemental Graphics Hardware Support (ver rs504c) Release Supplement for SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.4 (ver rs504c)Release Supplement for SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.4 (ver rs.Unix504.Software Manager Supplement (ver rs504c)

OK, you definitively have the rs504c supplement installed.
Sorry, I'm out of idea for the moment.

If you have any new idea, please update the topic.
Thanks for your help.
