Happy new Year from Wales,

We have been running a simple accounting package, built with foxpro 2.0 for dos, on a standalone Win95 Deskpro, for many years without any problems whatsoever. However, we recently migrated to a more modern pc running xp sp3. This went very well, following useful advice from your excellent site. There remains one small issue; as follows. We print single page invoices and statements sucessfully, but longer reports (5 to 10 pages) cause the program to crash back to windows. as soon as they are sent to the pirnter. We can work around this, but it would be very satisfying too have it fully functional again.

Many Thanks

Rob Hinton

Does it still fail if you print to an ASCII file?

Are you running it in a CMD.exe window? If so, try using older COMMAND.COM. DOes it still fail? Are there any messages?

Is your printer local and connected using a USB cable? That was a problem for me in the past with legacy DOS-based dBase, worked with UNC printer destination but not with local printer using USB cable.

Thanks for those suggestions, dbMark, the printer is local and connected to LPT1 via parallel cable.

I'll try command and let you know how it goes. There are no error messages.

Many thanks

Did you get a new printer? If yes, retry the old printer.

Was there a patch for faster newer processors for FPD 2.6??

The post is old and probably the issue was solved but if it is not solved yet the fist thing to check it would be config.nt for the files setting's and put something like files=140
and try to print a long report after restarting the computer.
