Has anyone got any answers to this problem: when I try printing a card in a cardfile and a window appears that says: etwin.dll the required resource is unavailable with the option to click on OK it pulses too as if to a rhythm. If you click on OK the window appears again and again ad infinitum.
or without the preceding 'Drama' Windows crashes and when you return to Sidekick there is an untitled Cardfile which you cannot access without crashing again. The only way to carry on is to go to File/Close cardfiles and select that cardfile in the dialogue box.
This happens only occasionally but is worse if I have my printer shared on the network.
Now I know that etwin.dll is to do with Earth Time but why it should affect printing is beyond me.
I am running Win95 and Sidekick98 + SecondCopy97 no virus programme
Is there an update to etwin.dll?
I'll be glad of any help on the matter as I have tried a lot of different workarounds.
Thank you in advance

Dear Catcutter,
See thread807-187719 for information from some users who had trouble loading Sidekick99 on WinXP though in a slightly different situation Click on the thread link above to see it.

The error message in that case went like this:
"This installation had detected that a previous installation or un-installation requires that you restart your computer"
It required you to rename an .ini file (see the instructions from Starfish at the link I supplied on that post)

There is another post too about something similar that came down to not being logged in as Administrator during the Installation, I can't locate it at this minute but I'll look again later.
Starfish say that Sidekick99 came out before WinXP so they don't see why we should expect it to work!
It does seem to work ok from the various posts I've seen in this forum though I'm not speaking from my own experience.
HTH
Regards Jim

Hallo All again,
Just to keep the conversation alive, here is an update on the Etwin.dll problem.
I have had to change printers recently on my two work machines.
I got HP Deskjet 940c's
I have the 2 printers shared across a peer to peer network between the 2 computers, one Computer running Win95 and Sidekick98 + patch and the other machine running Win98SE and Sidekick98 + patch.
I have not had any recurrence of the Etwin.dll problem since installing the Printers.
Previously as you can see from my earlier posts I had an HP670c and a HP690c shared and I did keep getting the Etwin.dll error on the Win95 machine.
My only problem now as I live in Ireland is how to get the Memo view to accept directly me typing in a Euro sign ie Ctrl+Alt+4(One can paste it in though)

I guess with regards to the Etwin.dll you can draw your own conclusions!
Regards Jim
!!

Here is more on this general subject.. My past posts have indicated problems with machine searching for etwin.dll. (Win98 op.sys. & Netscape 4.7x browser) More recently, SideKick has caused crashes because it has been unsuccessful when searching for "True Sync Information Manager." As soon as I have some time, I'm going to reload all my software from original CD's, and I'll post note as to whether or not it solves problems.
