I have a class certificate that is currently printed on card stock and all pertinient data is typed onto it one at a time on a typewriter. I wish to use access to print student name and class info using a computer but do multiple students at the same time (ie enter 4 students and print all with one click).
I have set everything up for entering students and class data into several tables, but don't know how to tackle printing this info along with the certificate itself. I have scanned a blank certificate onto my computer.

Any idea on the best way to proceed on this?

Hi
Are you unsure about setting up the certificate? I have found that it is just a case of measuring everything. A custom form size can be set, if necessary, and bound text boxes can be placed on the form in the correct positions. If the card stock you are using is gloss, you may need to set a small delay between pages. If the stock is thick, the paper path for the printer could be important.

Remou,

That is essentially it. I'm not sure wether this should be a report or just another form that pulls from other tables? I'm new to access and am starting to get a handle on things but this is new to me.
I also want to set up a loop so that if multiple certificates are needed with different student names from the same class, it can do those with no user input other than the initial print input.

I would use a report. It is also possible to link to Word, which can sometimes be more useful than Access reports.

To imagine a little, say you had a couple of fields, blnCertPrinted and blnPassedExam, you could then set the Record Source of your report to:
[tt]Select * From tblStudents Where blnPassedExam And Not blnCertPrinted[/tt]
Just to give you one, rough idea ...

I've done something like this before. All you have to do is create a report that looks like the certificate you want. You'll create a box for the fields that change based off your table/form field names.

When you run the report, it should create a certificate for all the names you entered in the table/form.

If you plan to use the database to store historically who's been in the class ever, then you'll need to have some sort of date field or current student field. Or you can do like Remou mentioned above with a CertPrint field but that might be hard to implement for someone new to Access.
