The company I work for bought a large number of Canon LBP-810 printers to use them as client printers in Citrix Metaframe. As it turned out, the printers are not at all compatible for use in this environment. That is what we are told, anyway.
Yesterday I said that I would try to make the printers work, and this is what I found out:
Everything is Windows 2000 and 2000 server/terminal server/citrix environment.
Starting a metaframe application (I used Microsoft Word) the printer will not work.
If I use program neighborhood and initiates a regular “desktop” session, the printer works fine. If I duting a desktop session starts a metaframe application, it is possible to print from the metaframe application. –and what is interesting: If I end the desktop session, the remaining metaframe application will continue to print fine on its own.
If I do it the other way –If I first start a metaframe application and then the program neighborhood desktop session, the printer wont work: Not in metaframe, not in neighborhood desktop.
So, as it seems, in the webICA client, and the regular PN client, the printing is done in 2 different ways, but they obviously can not co-exist.
Do any of you know any way to work around this problem? A modified printer driver for that printer, or way to use parts of the regular client in the webclient so that it is possible to control this printer.
Thanks for your time
Peter
