I got a wierd one, or atleast to me. I have to win98 mach that wont print to a hp jetdirect box attached to a brother hl-1050. They used to but one day quit. The weird part is any win2k mach prints fine and never has any problems. I have tried un-installing and re-installing the drivers. I tried del and remaking the port, also tried changing spool method and communication method(ipx rather then ip and vise versa). I can ping the jetdirect and even open the config menu for the jetdirect in IE. But when ever the user trys printing they get "the network connection was aborted by the local sys" or it just says it cant send print job to the printer. I keep trying to get the users to let me upgrade to win2k, but they are to paranoid they will have probs to let me. Any suggestions as to what I could do besides re-installing the os would be appreciated.

I may be talking out of my back side but I have to ask, how are you mapping this drive from the 98 machine?

Are you using the search feature or putting in by IP?

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not mapping a drive it is a hp jetdirect box you can attach to printers that normally wont allow you to setup via tcp/ip. Basicly what you do is give the box an ip with there jetadmin software that comes with it and then setup the driver for the attached printer on each mach as you install the printer. It's basicly a printserver in a box. You cant browse to it unless you know its Ip beacause its not a shared printer its just networked. For now I have hooked up printers to the two 98mach to the LPT port for now so they can still print.

You can try HP technical support. I use the Taiwan one and they are quite helpful. I had similar problem with a 500x server driving an Epson 1520 printer through a mach on 98. The other 2 hp lasers attached to 500x work fine but the 1520 just refuses to respond. Eventually, HP suggests me to connect the printer to a lpt of one mach and share as p2p. Silly solution, but I am using it.

Yea no one seems to know what the problem is. I'll give hp tech support a try. Havnt helped much in the past, but maybe they will this time. Thks for the reply.
