I have a laptop that has a weird problem. It doesn't show a printer port in the hardware list, but I can install a printer to the LTP1 port and it will work.

Normally I pass over a problem like this but I have an app that requires a key to be plugged into LTP1 port. Since it's not there the app doesn't recognize it.

I can't figure a way to "put it back".

First, go to the BIOS and make sure the parallel port is enabled.

If the printer you installed is a shared device on a network, you will have to remove the printer share so that the port is not held open. It might be advisable to remove the printer definition completely.

Make certain that no other application is claiming the port and attempting to share it. On laptops the port is sometimes held open by a software driver that uses the parallel port as an external drive port.
