I have a Windows 2008 server. I also have a Canon MX-700 Printer/Fax. I want to share this printer from the server.

I have a static IP address of 192.168.5.246 on the printer. I can ping the printer from the server. When I try to install the printer to the server using a TCPIP connection, it seems to install well.

It's when I try to print to the printer from the server that I run into problems. On the Canon print utility that loads with the printer driver, it is not a separate install, I get a message of: "Printer not responding". The document, which is just a Windows Test Page, hangs up in the print queue. I have even attempted this with the Server Firewall disabled.

We can, and have printed to this printer when it was shared from a network computer via usb port before we installed the server last week.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Did you put the Gateway in the printer config?

I'm Certifiable, not cert-ified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

There are no more PDC's! There are DC's with FSMO roles!

Yes. The gateway in the printer is correct. I just tried to connect to it from a client computer with a standard TCPIP connection. No luck their either. I'm beginning to think the printer driver is the problem. Even though it was printing before. The person who set it up before the Domain, said he had to plug the printer into each client computer by the USB port to make it work. Strange.
