Hi,

I have a printer attached to a W2K Pro desktop. I've shared this printer.
HAving logged in as Admin at 5 other PCs in the same room I installed this printer at those PC's. Why is it then, that if a new user logs in the printer is not available? HOw can I make a printer available to anyone who logs in?

Because each user has his/her own profile in W2K Pro. The best way to map the printer is creating a login script in group policy. Check Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 314486 for How to add printers

Each user will have to add the shared printer. Only local printers are universal on W2K.

You can resetup the printer as a local printer as the Administrator and (and use the path as the port) or show each user how to add the networked printer. CJ

Don't drink and post, save that for driving home!

The major problem is that Wndows 2000 Pro only allows for five users to be logged on at one time. The best bet is to install Win2K Server and set it up as a printer server. Otherwise you will have users losing the access to the printer
