Hello all,

This seems like a trivial problem, But I haven't been able to find the answer.

The printer Icon in the status area that brings up the print queue doesn't show up anymore when a job is printed. I figure it's just a check box somewhere but I've been looking around and can't seem to find it.

could someone point me to the right location please.

It's a program called spoolsv.exe that should be running as a process. Go into control panel and under Administrative Tools open Services. Listed in there will be Print Spooler. Double-click on it and change startup type to automatic.

thanks.

the problem is I checked that on most of the computers that are not showing icon and the service is set to automatic and the service is started.

is there something on the print driver that needs to be set? the computers have been rebooted and that hasn't helped.

The printer icon will only show up if you have a print job in the queue. If you have sent a job to the printer and it has finished printing then the icon with disapear again.

you're right ... the problem is the icon never shows up ... there is enough time for the use to go start->settings->printers find the printer they used, double click it hunt down there document, curse that it's already on page 8, and cancel it.

the service is running, it's queueing jobs properly, but the icon never shows up.
