Have a curious issue that has been dogging me for a few weeks.

Have about 6-7 2000 boxes running to a Xerox document centre or they can also select a networked Lexmark Optra. These were set up using the TCP/IP port feature in the printer setup wizard.

All of a sudden half the machines stopped printing and we were advised to change from the TCP/IP port connection and install other file and print services then use an LPR port instead.

Worked in all but one case, still going sparse trying to find a consitent reason for the problem.

Seems to be no network communication with either printer from this box but all other LAN and WAN activity is fine.

SP3 is installed.

Regards

This may be just a guess with your setup, but how many connections are you using to this print share? If the machine sharing the printer is not a Wondows server - keep in mind it's only meant to have a maximum of 10 network connections at a time to it's shared resources. Any more than that - and you need an NT or Win2K Server.

Just a thought :) pbxman

This is a straight network connection, no sharing involved. We are running a Novell server for file sharing, security etc.

Thanks for the response pbxman
