someone has thrown out the adapter for the printer where can i get one

Hi,
Are you talking about the power supply or the cable? Power supply will be available from an Epson printer seller, and would cost around USD 180 when last purchased. I got my last one via Micros Hardware Support. There are cheaper places than them. They are considered consumables, so any place that sells Epson printers will be able to order a supply for you.
If you need a new Serial cable (DB9 to DB25) then most computer stores sill have one. Or is it another kind of adapter?

it is the the adapter the the cat 5 cable is pluged into

you will have to make your own, the pin-outs are as below:

You will have to go to an electrical store or get a computer specialist / cabler to make you one.

DB 9 COLOR DB 25

8 white 20
5 Brown 7
1 Yellow 14
6 Green 4
3 Red 3
2 Black 2
Orange 1

This is a standard serial connection using CAT 5 or 6 cable.
