Would like to use a link or button on a form to print the form to a networked printer. I've seen the "...print();" part of scripting. Is there a way (in jscript or vbscript) to name the \\server\printername and avoid the user having to install the printer before being able to print the form?

You want to hard code the print option to print to a specific device? What if the users want to print to a different printer? The print function you can include prints to the users default printer.

Yes, The form I'm planning will be a help-desk type form so I would like it to easily go to a specific printer - in our informatics office. Hoping users would not have to install and select this printer on each PC they use and still be sure the copy goes where it's needed. Too much error in letting them pick their own printer - at least for the copy that needs to get delivered. TY,

nurse I wondered how you solved this problem since I want to do the exact same thing.

For one have you found a way to make a print button link to printer other than the standard, if so pls tell me, I'm afraid not cause herad it couldn't be done but if so..WOW! :)

but more I would like to know if you found a way to remotly install the printer on the newbie computers..?

thnx in advance hope you can help, in return if you need some code for linking or printing specific pages or having printbuttons that won't be printed just ask me.

greetz,
Guido

Everything I've read says can't do on client side.
Found this url about ASP. Haven't tried to apply it.

What I want to do seems so simple, I wonder why can't get user input, create a txt file, then call dos.bat file to print the txt file to net printer.

Hmmmmm.....???? Still checking
