HI all,

All of my computers seemto have a hiccup when trying to print a .pdf document from InDesign using the Print command. I get an error saying "Cannnot Print or Export to the Specified Device. there may be insufficent disk space on the device for the file you are trying to create."

Has anyone else seen this error before? Or have any tips on how to resolve it? Searches of teh Adobe website and use of the Help manual have come up with nothing. I re-installed my copy of Adobe Acrobat thinking that could be the problem but no solution so far.

Any tips/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Orion11,

When you want a pdf as output, you don't use the print command but the 'export command'.

Using the Print command and choosing AdobePDF as your virtual printer is a common way to create PDF files without CID fonts (which some RIPs choke on). The Export PDF function uses CID font encoding.

I would trash the preferences for both InDesign and Acrobat. Do other physical printers work from InDesign? Can other applications print to PDF?

Thanks Carlow. I've tried the export command as well but as mentioned by Jimoblak I run into font issues.

Jimoblak: I've tried printing with other applications using AdobePDF and there seems to be no problems. When you mention "trashing" the preferences for InDesign and Acrobat could you be a bit more specific?
