I have an extremely large document and I would like to print half or quarter pages or even just print the thumbnails (tho that might be a little small). I am kind of looking for a "handout" view as in Powerpoint which prints 2 pages to a page (or 4 or 6). But anything that I can do to reduce the number & size of the printed pages would be helpful.

Is there any way to do this from Acrobat?

with a postscript printer driver, there is an option of printing multipages onto one page. it's usually in the printer properties. for HP drivers it's usually under the Paper or Graphics tab; then there will a 1-up, 2-up, 4up, etc.

Distiller has similar option for multi-ups. problem with this is printing a PDF to Distiller might cause problems with the resulting PDF (there is a Acrobat TechNote at Adobe's support site on this).

if you don't have a postscript printer, then get a generic driver (make sure it's color capable if needed). print the PDf to the Postscript driver saved as a file then Distill.

Yes, this route will remove any added Acrobat features you added (links, bookmarks, etc.)
