Just off the phone with Brother who tells me there is no print server which will work with our Brother MCP-7020. Since person we were talking with hardly understood English, we find this difficult to believe. Especially since their download page for this printer offers drivers which allow for network printing.

This printer has both a USB and Parallel port. We are looking for a print server that can be connected to the all in one machine then be connected by Cat5 cable to our router. Our router is both wired & wireless. Our goal is to be able to print documents from various laptops which visit the building without having to leave our main computer turned on at all times. This is for my volunteer fire department / township office.

Does anyone know of a print server that will work with this machine? Any assistance would greatly be appreciated.

d-link 301p+ works with my parallel port 8840D. Hawking has one model that I've used on it also.

I've been buying the units off ebay for between $30 and $65.

Best to buy whatever you get in the box, with software. Once you set one up and know how it works you'll throw the software away as it has a web based setup built in.

You set it in XP like a shared attached printer. On vista & maybe 7, it is as a local ethernet printer.

I'd be very surprised if it couldn't be made to work with a print server. I don't have a Brother printer here, but have used HP, Epson and Lexmark printers at one time or another through an Intel NetportExpress print server which has a parallel printer port.

Bought another Intel NetportExpress print server recently for one of my users, from e-bay. Works fine on their small network...

THANK YOU both!! Will be researching all of them and taking it to or next business meeting for a vote to purchase.

I really like the fact that the ones you mentioned are parallel ported. Would like to leave our current system set up (USB connected)the way it is. Why mess with something that is working perfectly. Will also help me with troubleshooting if I have problems during set up, as I have never worked with print servers before. Networking is not my forte' and am learning it as I am forced to by necessity.

Am really looking forward to being able to print documents during business meetings without having to drag my laptop into the office to connect to the printer. :)

THANK YOU AGAIN!!
