Print Problems with Crystal Reports 9

Hello,

I use Crystal Reports Developer version 9 in my custom application. I use the report preview and print features of Crystal.

Although the preview and print work well for every other client, I have one client that has a problem. This client is using Windows2000 Professional.

When the client initially logs on to my program, the client can preview a report, but when he tries to print, it appears to print, but never does print to the default network printer. If the client manually goes to the printer folder and selects a different network printer, the report will preview and print just fine. If the client then goes back to the printer folder and re-selects the original network printer, the report previews and prints just fine.

My question is: Why will the report not print the first time? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Any suggestions on a fix?

Further info: This problem only occurs with my application and the Crystal runtime. If the client initially goes into Word, it prints just fine. Then, however, if the client goes into my application, the above occurs.

The client is using HP4050 and HP5000 network printers and has updated the drivers to their latest version.

Thanks,

How are you setting the printer within the application? If you're not, then it will attempt to find the printer that the report was pointing to when last saved. After that, it should go to the default printer (if there is one).

What development environment are you using?

Hello,

I am using Visual Foxpro 8 with SP1 as my development environment. I have a SQL Server back-end to store data. I am using Crystal 9 Developer for the reports.

I am distributing the crviewer9.dll, etc. so the client can view, then print the reports. The client does not create any of the reports. I create all of the reports and distribute them to the client.

When the client views the report, he clicks the print button, the default printer shows up in the dialog and the client clicks print. The report appears to print, but does not.

I have several other clients that are having no problems. This is the only client that is having a problem.

It is odd to me that even though the client has a default printer set, that he has to physically select another printer, then physically re-set the default printer before the program prints properly.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks,
