I frequently have to reboot my Citrix Server to clear print queues. When I try to delete print jobs that appear not to be working (sitting in the queue for hours/days) it appears to be deleting but just sits there. Any ideas ??

The only solution I found - rather than rebooting - si to restart the Printer Splooer service ...

You are using third part printer drivers on your server, that are not 100% TS aware, thus causing this behaviour.
Try to stick with win2k cdrom drivers as much as possible, and map other drivers to them via the wtsuprnt.inf, or CMC printer mapping.

You don't say which version of Citrix you're using - SP4 for Metaframe 1.8 has recently been released that claims to fix a problem that sounds kinda like this. I certainly have a problem with a particular printer getting caught like this, and it's using the print drivers off the NT4 TSE CD.

But!! According to my sources, some people have had servers completely die after applying SP4, so be sure to put it on a test server first. I won't be applying it anyway. Restarting the spooler service is pretty easy, although it's best to do after hours so you don't kill off any print jobs in progress on every other printer.

This is the major reason we have to reboot our servers every night. This and phantom connections.

Just in case you hadn't thought of it - you could schedule the print spooler service to be restarted automatically every night.

Just make a RESTSPL.BAT file with the lines:
NET STOP Spooler
NET START Spooler

then schedule it by typing:
AT 0:00 /EVERY:M,T,W,Th,F,S,Su N:\RESTSPL.BAT
