I'm running SCO OpenServer 5.0.4 I've got a remote printer sending print to a SCO OpenServer 5.0.4 print server that is printing on a Okidata parallel printer using JetDirect 300X. Sometimes a print job will not clear out and I have to delete the job from the remote machine. I can see the job on the print server but when I try to delete it there it says that the job has finised. The entire report prints and they are not large reports. The problem is very sporatic, it may go days without a problem and then happen several times in a day.

I had some problems understanding your problem exactly (my english could have been a lot better :))

I don´t know why this command has helped us with our different printer problems (several wierd problems) but it has.
/usr/lib/lpadmin -p[que] -onobanner
after that restart the que using /usr/lib/lpshut followed by /usr/lib/lpsched

Another thing that has helped is simply reinstalling the printer que.

I haven´t had your problem exactly but trying doesn´t hurt, does it? Nostradamus

try to stop/cancel the print jobs, then re-start it. make sure the printer is turned on.

you have to specify which queue you want to cancel a print job.

Sometimes if a print job really hangs and will not stop, it is necessary to execute "lpshut" and then go into /usr/spool/lp/requests (I believe) and delete the offending spooled file. Then execute "lpsched" to restart and the printer should be functional again. Be sure to check the man pages as: it has been a long time since this was done; but this has worked.

Control files are in requests, and the file in temp. Ed Fair
