Began getting these errors on various HP printers after moving print services from a W2k Server to a Win2k3 box.
Set up printers using regular TCP/IP sharing (not HP's software), just as on old server.
Began getting 49 and 79 errors on several HP printers (4n, 5sinx, 4500n) in two specific programs.
Was told by the software vendors to try older drivers, but the problem persists.
I've even re-established a couple of print shares on the Win2k box (using the older drivers still there), but continue to get the errors every 10-20th print job.
I've also tried updating the firmware for all the jetdirect cards and using the latest HP drivers (instead of the MS "in-box" ones).
As this began happening on 5 different printers simultaneously (and we haven't had any power problems), I think I can rule-out hardware issues.
Have tried PCL6 and PCL5c/e drivers.
Would like to try Postscript, but I probably don't have the momory to support it.
Does anyone know if print services are handled differently in Win2k3?
Any suggestions/insights would be welcome.
