I am using a print button to print out the form the user is using. This has worked fine (I think) up till now.

Recently I added some changes to improve the form.

The problem was that the forms are graphically laid out which meant that if you printed the selected data, a lot of ink was wasted print the graphics.
Then I stumbled on to a great feature :)/ ;) ) where you can in the properties menu allocate what you want to appear on the "screen only" or "print only" Having discovered that I allocated and copied different fields and laid them on top of each other so that you get a nice clean print out.

Problem is that (now) the marges keep changing from a4 horizontal 23 mm all around to a4 vertical 140, 140, 103, 103 mm.
Which basically nukes the print button, because it gives an error that it can't print.

The reason I want to use a print button is so that I can protect the form. If I allow access to the standard print menu then all people have to do is close "print view" and the (whole) security is overrided.

Optimal solution: does anybody know why these marges are changing?? I am stumped I have tried various things to clean up.

Could the problem be in "screen only" "print only"

Second solution: anything that wil solve this, and will allow the selected records be printed without compromising database security.

Many thanxs to anybody who knows :):):)

Dear all found this posted thread which answers the problem for reports. Great tip, because I have been having same problem with reports. Hopes it helps people! :)
It doesn't directly answer my question about the forms.
Will try to have a look at some of the tips.
Will keep you posted.

Losing Page Margin Settings thread703-88957

In the meantime any solutions, let me know :):):)

o.k. searching the tekkie website (p.s. great website people! :) )

Found some threats concerning the problem. Most of them refer to reports, but some pertain forms.

The closest tip I found (sorry I lost the thread) was the
PrtMip function.

When you look this up in Access Help, you find information, and get an visual basic example. Which of course doesn't work.

Having said that, I have to say that my visual basic are
not that great.

So I gues the optimal solution would be something where some kind of code, macro, etc. could be inserted on the
"at open" line of a form. This would guarantee that the margins and page layout would be correct no matter what.

I took a look at the info at the above threat, and found the setting in options they were referring too, plus the download, however this leaves the problem, that a. if someone changes the option the whole database will become soup, and b. this database will run across multiple platforms, which means that if somebody doesn't have the service pack, the problem will reoccur, not really a viable solution.

Come on people, the whole project is almost finsihed this is the last hangup. Typical isn't it ;) LOL :):)

Thanks for any help.
I hope this thread helps people in a simular situation.

Kind Regards
