I print reports from a program that utlilzes v8.5. I have a report that pulls a record (client) and prints multiple records regarding that client in details (including list of debt which then runs a sum of debt). I want to set up for a "clone" to print with a watermark "copy". I have tried reformating the report utilizing detail sections but encounter problems with the sum of debt printing a seperate page for each item. I have tried inserting a subreport with the watermark but it does not tie to the database correctly (no record information included on subreport). I am wondering if there is a formula I can place at the end of the report to print the report again before the next record is printed. Thank you for any help...

I think I responded to you on this a couple of months ago in thread767-884397--it would have been better if you had responded to that original thread rather than starting a new one.

Let me clarify a little. You should save the main report as a subreport (file->save file as subreport) and then insert the subreport into the main report. I'm assuming you have your main report set up with a group on client account number or client name. You would insert a group footer_b section in the main report and place the subreport there. The subreport should be linked to the main report on your group field. Then you would go to the main reort section expert and highlight the group footer_b section and choose "new page before". You will also need to use a new page before the group header of the main report or new page after on the group footer_b section.

After trying this, please provide specific feedback if it doesn't work quite right.

The sub report should be identical to the main report except for the water mark. Group both by client_id. In Client_id footing of the main report insert the sub report linking by client_Id. In the section expert check "new page before" and "new page after" in the client_id footer section on the main report.

Hope this helps,

MrBill

My apologies LB.

Feedback:

I do not have the save as subreport option available (grayed out). In going thru the Report Definition, it looks as if the report was created using v8.0 and I am revising in v8.5 (don't know if that matters). I am a new user so not sure I understood everyting correctly. The main report was created with client info in the Report Header section, page 2 has Page Header info followed by the clients debt information in the Details section, the client debt has a sum in the Report Footer a and additional client info in Report Footer b. I tried to save the report with a different file name (with watermark) and inserted this as a subreport in Page Footer. This produced the correct copy one but copy 2 with watermark did not include any record info. I also tried placing all client info into Details a, text in Details b, page 2 header info in Details c, client debt info in Detail d, sum of debt in Detail e, text in Detail f, watermark in Detail g, and repeated above info in Detail h-m respectively. This resulted in a correct printout except each client debt produced another print (need them together). Not sure where to go from there.

Yes, you can save the report with a different name and then insert it as the subreport. If you only have one client per report, then insert it in a new report footer_c section.

If you are using a parameter for the client number in your record selection formula, then in the main report, go to edit->subreport links->choose the parameter in the main report and then in the bottom left, use the drop-down to select the same parameter (don't use {?pm-?parm}). Otherwise, do not link the subreport.

I couldn't get that to work either. I still have each individual debt listed on a seperate page with the final page including the total of all debt. Should I look at reformatting the report?

Check in the section expert to make sure you do not have the details section formatted with "Print at bottom of the page"--this would cause a separate page per detail record.
